ATTENTION:

The Department of Intercolligiate Athletics seeks an Assistant Coach (Football Operations Manager). This is a 40% FTE position.

JOB DETAILS:

Working under general supervision and assists the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director with all football related functions and administration duties. This is a 12-month, full time position which functions much like an internship

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working within an intercollegiate athletic program (preferably in football)
Physical Qualifications:
  • Medium work. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions (on game days and other outdoor functions with recruits); subject to extreme heat and cold, noise and hazards
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to regulations of video exchange and football operations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and the Internet
  • Ability to travel with football team
  • Ability to work weekend and evening hours on occasion
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Promotes the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, to include adhering to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the NCAA
  • Assists the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director with football related functions, office administration and support duties.
  • Assistant Coach position responsibilities assign by Head football Coach
  • Travels to away contests with the football team; continues football related duties upon arrival
  • Assists with on campus recruiting visits
  • Assists with summer football Camp activities
  • Assists with summer groups utilizing the football facilities through the Continuing Education Office
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach.
Other Duties:
  • Assists with any football related needs of the staff at the direction of the Head Football Coach or the Athletic Director
  • Work closely with the Football Equipment Room
Supervisor Duties:
  • Responsible for own work
  • Student Managers
Authority/Accountability:
  • Works under general supervision. Reports to the Head Football Coach
  • Adherence to WIAC and NCAA regulations
Problem Solving:
  • Solves problems associated with providing assistance for football related functions
