ATTENTION:

The Department of Instructional, Communication & Information Technology (iCIT) at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater seeks an Assistant Director, Learning & Campus Technology (Inform Process Conslt).

JOB DETAILS:

The position's primary responsibility is to support technology skill advancement of all University of Wisconsin Whitewater staff. This full-time position will work with the Learning Technology Center (LTC) and campus departments to support 21st century learning and business strategies. This position will coordinate the development and delivery of training solutions to improve the general understanding of technology concepts, as well as consult on best practices for instructional and non-instructional use. Further, this position will work with staff to understand technology needs, coordinate and mentor staff to pilot programs to investigate new technologies/functionalities, and promote technology adoption and training that works to meet campus needs. The person will help transition campus from the traditional approach of teaching software features to teaching methods that focus on departmental business processes and digital transformation. The person in this position will hold a key role in the successful identification and adoption of campus technology for both instructional and non-instructional use. The person in this position works under the supervision of the Director of Learning Technology in ICIT.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong background in collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data to varying audiences related to user experience
  • Experience researching, testing, evaluating, and promoting new or increased tools and functionality
  • Experience leading workshops, programs, or units within an organization
Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree (e.g., Master’s Degree or PhD)
  • Familiarity with technology used for instructional and non-instructional use in higher education
  • Experience in higher education training, professional development, or teaching
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate pilot programs
  • Ability to communicate with users, assist them in identifying their needs, and recommend areas where processes can be proved through technology
  • Good organizational skills with a high degree initiative to learn new things, adaptability, and ability to work both collaboratively and independently to achieve goals
  • Experience providing guidance to staff in order to achieve organizational goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:

35% A. Leadership and Guidance
  1. Partner with the Director of Learning Technology to create, support, and update strategic planning and communication efforts that support campus needs.
  2. Provide guidance to the LTC staff and support professional growth through coordination of and participation in 1-1 meetings and staff meetings.
  3. Oversee LTC daily operations and emerging technology exploration pilots.
  4. Assist the LTC in developing and documenting unit processes, as well as supporting staff in documenting key processes related to their positions.
  5. Support partnerships that meet specific college or departmental needs, coordinating LTC staff resources and participating as needed.
30% B. Support Technology Training
  1. Work with staff to develop and facilitate technology-related training in varying modes and on topics based on identified needs.
  2. Collaborate with ICIT staff to create, provide, and evaluate a classroom technology training program.
  3. Assist in the creation, maintenance, coordination, and evaluation of the Instructional Facilities Training Center.
  4. Ensure training investment and opportunities are in keeping with technology advancement strategy.
  5. Develop methodologies for evaluation and measurement of training effectiveness.
  6. Provide reports to management on the training program and effectiveness.
  7. Participate in ICIT projects to recommend and develop training in the rollout of new and upgraded systems.
  8. Provide trainings or parts of trainings, as needed.
25% C. Assess and Promote Technology Adoption and Proficiency
  1. Identify the expected skill levels in technology proficiency for campus staff.
  2. Analyze office processes and develop training solutions that meet identified needs, ensuring technology is effectively used.
  3. Develop a methodology for tracking and assessing staff technology proficiency.
  4. Collaborate with departments to plan for skills assessment and training, including orientation programs for students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  5. Identify professional development opportunities to assist staff in achieving and exceeding the expected skill levels.
  6. Work with the ICIT Helpdesk to identify individuals or departments with additional or unique training needs, and propose solutions.
  7. Market the benefits of technology proficiency to the campus community.
  8. Track campus technology adoption patterns to better understand campus needs.
  9. Serve as an advocate for user requirements in planning for new and upgraded enterprise technologies.
  10. Support pilot programs in their design and testing, reporting results to ICIT Management Team and the campus.
  11. Work with other ICIT staff in the planning and use of new technology, including participation in department events.
10% D. Other Duties As Assigned
