ANNOUNCEMENT OF ACADEMIC STAFF POSITION IN MATHEMATICS

Description: The Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater invites applications for one or two full-time academic staff lecturer positions in Mathematical and Computer Sciences beginning August 21, 2013. Responsibilities include teaching 27 undergraduate credits per year (typically divided as 15 credits in fall and 12 credits in spring), primarily in mathematics courses below Calculus, including Intermediate Algebra. A demonstrated excellence in teaching is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching Intermediate Algebra, Introductory Statistics, or the Mathematics for Elementary Teachers course sequence. Experience in curriculum development in lower level mathematics courses is a plus.
Starting Date: 8/21/2013
Qualifications: A minimum of a master’s degree in mathematics, or a master’s degree in education with a bachelor’s degree in the mathematical sciences is required. At least one year full time teaching experience in mathematics at the college or university level is required.
General Information: The UW-Whitewater Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences offers a range of
undergraduate programs in mathematics, computer science, and mathematics education. In addition, the department also lends support to a Media Arts and Game Development major. There are currently 37 faculty and academic staff in the department.
