The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announces a full time (none-month) tenure track position at the assistant professor level in the area of art education beginning in the 2012 academic year.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate method courses and graduate courses, supervise field experiences, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and coordinate the art education licensure program. Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to work with non-traditional students are essential to this position. All faculty at UW-Whitewater may be required to teach online and hybrid courses, weekend and/or evening classes, and provide service to the university and local community in a variety of modalities, including leading Learning Communities, mentoring students, and providing professional development opportunities for colleagues, schools and community groups. The position will start August 22, 2012.

Required Qualifications: We are seeking candidates with strong credentials in art education with a minimum of three years of teaching in PK-12; equivalent background to qualify for a Wisconsin art education teaching license; potential for or an established record of scholarly activity; and an earned doctorate (or defense completed by start date) in art education or closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications: University teaching, advising, and supervision experience; art teaching experience in both elementary and secondary levels; and experience and understanding of elementary arts-based education that includes visual art, drama, and music to cut across traditional curriculum boundaries.
