Responsibilities: Anticipated position, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology position beginning 8/20/2014.  Candidates are expected to teach a variety of courses in Race & Ethnic Relations, Race & Ethnicity in Comparative Perspective, as well as a community-based course that enable students to investigate race and ethnic relations beyond the classroom.   The ability to teach general education courses that include Sociology and an interest in developing a course for online teaching are desirable. Candidates are expected to contribute to the Race and Ethnic Cultures interdisciplinary program. Candidates are expected to contribute to the scholarly literature, pursue grants, and engage in professional and public service.  UW-Whitewater is an EO/AA employer. Department and University: The multi-disciplinary department has 23 full and part-time faculty and academic staff and serves approximately 450 majors, among the largest number of majors in the university. UW-Whitewater is a premier public regional university with an enrollment of 12,000 students in 50 undergraduate majors and 11 master's degree programs.  It offers high-quality, career oriented programs with a model general education curriculum. 

Community: Whitewater, a city of 14,000, is located in southeastern Wisconsin near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest.  The immediate area offers a variety of summer and winter recreational activities, including facilities of the Whitewater Lake recreational area.  Whitewater is 50 miles from Milwaukee, 45 miles from Madison and 110 miles from Chicago.
