Position:   Associate Director, James R. Connor University Center

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration or related field.  Also, five years of demonstrated strong competencies of a progressively responsible nature in university center/auxiliary operations or university facility/project management services with three of those years at the administrative level are required.  Knowledge of maintenance project and reservations software is highly preferred.  The ability to work with a diverse clientele, complex systems and budgets and various computer systems and software preferred.  Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students and community users are required.

Salary: The estimated salary range for this position will be $65 - $70K per year.

This position is the responsible administrator in the absence of the Executive Director.

Position Summary:
The Associate Director University Center has administrative, supervisory, programmatic, and fiscal responsibility for the University Center building/grounds, building operations/reservations, HR, Fiskum Gallery and marketing/graphics. The position supervises the Assistant Director of HR/Gallery/Marketing, Facilities/Tech Coordinator and Building/Grounds Superintendent.  This position develops, coordinates and manages the budgets, strategic plans, personnel development plans and marketing plans for all of these areas. This position is the responsible administrator in the absence of the Executive Director.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Take an active role in the daily operations of the reservations office.

Lead the building/grounds, facilities/reservations and promotions, Fiskum Art Gallery, graphics and human resources within the University Center, in providing programs and services within the purpose and mission of the University Center, Student Affairs and the University.

Supervise the management of the building/grounds area including the developing of policies and plans for cleaning, maintenance, capital planning and equipment replacement.

Develop annual and long-range goals, objectives and strategic plans for the building/grounds, facilities/reservations and promotions, Fiskum Art Gallery, graphics and human resources offices.

Develop annual budgets and 6 year capital budgets for the building/grounds, facilities/reservations and promotions, Fiskum Art Gallery, graphics and human resources.  Monitor budgets on a monthly basis.  With the Executive Director, develop overall budgets for the James R. Connor University Center organization.

Serve as system administrator for University Center building/grounds TMA project tracking software.

When appropriate, assist the Executive Director of the University Center in conducting and implementing action plans from a five-year Office Planning and Review Process in the building/grounds, facilities/reservations and promotions, Fiskum Art Gallery, graphics and human resources areas.  Establish an ongoing assessment program to evaluate needs and the success in meeting needs in each unit.

Develop marketing and assessment programs for all areas of responsibility.

Assist Executive Director in collaborating with appropriate University offices to insure a comprehensive offering of student oriented programs within the new and remodeled Connor University Center.

Serve as an active member of the University Center administrative team and is the responsible administrator in the absence of the Executive Director.  Participate in the overall administration of the University Center particularly in the areas of budgeting, fiscal planning/management, building maintenance, capital planning and project management.

Direct the planning and implementation of an environmental improvements program within the University Center, Esker and Drumlin Halls.

Develop, implement, and evaluate programs to monitor and maintain the cleanliness of Esker Dining Hall, Drumlin Dining Hall,  and the James R. Connor University Center.

Develop, implement, and evaluate programs to monitor and maintain the grounds for Esker Dining Hall, Drumlin Dining Hall and the James R. Connor University Center.

Develop, implement, approve, and evaluate equipment purchases along with maintenance of existing equipment.

Serve on Divisional committees and on special projects as determined by supervisor.

Assist with management, coordination and completion of projects in the University Center, Drumlin and Esker halls.

Complete other duties and tasks as assigned by the University Center Executive Director.

Supervision Received:
General supervision is received from the Executive Director, University Center.

Supervision Exercised:
Supervision exercised over the Assistant Director of HR/Gallery/Marketing, Facilities/Tech Coordinator and Building/Grounds Superintendent.
