Position: Associate Director of Bookstore Services 
Hayes Hill Title: Student Services Program Manager I 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in business or related field preferred, and 2 to 4 years of retail management experience.

Position Summary: The Associate Director of Bookstore Services assists with planning and directing the administrative operation, human resources management, and computing systems of the University Bookstore, including the Textbook Rental Service.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
•Supervise personnel of Bookstore Services including University Services Associate 2, Inventory Control Coordinator-Advanced, and two University Services Program Associate positions as well as temporary and student workers. 
•Assist in the hiring process of new employees which includes writing job descriptions, developing recruitment strategies, defining screening criteria, interviewing candidates, and making hiring recommendations. 
•Develop new staffing patterns as needed; oversee hiring and training of student and part-time employees; schedule and lead orientation for all new employees; develop performance plans and standards, and evaluate employee performance.
•Maintain current knowledge of the latest techniques of buying, selling, merchandising and inventory control and train department managers and buyers in current best practices; research and implement a success mobile commerce strategy, Print-On-Demand (POD) and migration from traditional print textbooks to digital.
•Develop strategies to assist campus in combining digital literacy and social learning in order to help educators connect and collaborate with students to enhance the quality and efficiency of teaching, research, learning, communicating, collaborating, and creating.
•Initiate contact and nurture relationships with companies and representatives, ensuring adequate inventory levels of content and custom course packs; negotiate with vendors and suppliers to maintain proper levels of inventory necessary for the profitable and efficient operation of the Bookstore using the retail inventory method.
•Assist in the development of goals and objectives, and policies and procedures for Bookstore and Textbook Rental operations including purchasing, accounting, pricing, merchandising, and inventory controls.
•Assume lead role in preparing for and conducting annual physical inventory.
•Assist Director in the development and implementation of annual assessment plan for Bookstore and Textbook Rental.
•Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of all Bookstore and Textbook Rental computing needs.  Develop, review and recommend long range computer plans and budget for software upgrades and hardware replacements. 
•Assume role of liaison with IT department and third party software companies to facilitate the interfacing of campus debit card system, and the integration of PeopleSoft data (course, instructor and student class schedule and course enrollment figures) into the Bookstore and Textbook Rental POS systems.
•Analyze, select and implement Credit Card Acceptance methods to maintain PCI compliance with the Bookstore’s in-store sales, eliminating storage of credit card information on the POS systems.
•Coordinate scheduling and implementation of new or enhanced data application software updates with the software provider and the campus technology department.
•Develop and maintain Bookstore’s e-commerce website content and customization.  Initiate and maintain merchant accounts for website with the bank.
•Remain actively involved in Student Affairs and University committees, and annually attend appropriate state, regional, and national conferences.
•Candidates must have experience and be able to work with a diverse population.

Supervision Received: General supervision is received from the Director of Bookstore Services.

Supervision Exercised: Functional and/or administrative supervision is exercised over classified and student employees in the Bookstore and Textbook Rental.

Salary:  $41,336 minimum; $51,670 midrange; $62,004 maximum
