Working Title:  Technology Coordinator

Position:  The Technology Coordinator will provide leadership regarding the use of technology to improve instruction and learning in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  This person will assist in developing the technology vision statement for the College of Business and Economics including the development of a staffing, purchasing, and implementation plans regarding the increased technology applications in the future.  While under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the Technology Coordinator will be given wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment.

Responsibilities include:
-Perform highly complex technical and professional work; serve as a technical resource person for the planning and implementation of highly specialized hardware; software, and systems projects.  Experience with Zenworks and Active Directory environment preferred.
-Coordinate and direct work of student staff engaged in professional software and hardware functions of varied complexity; participate in and provide input to technical policy-making decisions.
-Troubleshoot daily problems (hardware, software, printers, security, etc.). Train students to provide first-line support.  Provide second-line support for all faculty and general computer labs. 
-Set up and maintain college servers running at the university and outside vendor locations.
-Train users on software and equipment usage. Respond to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs. Develop and communicate standards for use, operations, and security of network, personal computers, and data.
-Translate college needs into business solutions. Coordinate with various departments within the college to understand and meet their requirements. Assist in establishing strategic plans to utilize the latest technologies. Assist in  establishing budgetary requirements for equipment replacement. Develop emergency plans to deal with catastrophic events.
-Act as liaison between College and university Instructional Communication Information Technology (ICIT) services.
-Design and deliver training programs, workshops and seminars on internet, multimedia, and other instructional technologies and their use.
-Oversee server storage of media files.
-Assist in the development of technological tools for online, hybrid and other teaching/learning methodologies
-Support new technology initiatives within the College of Business & Economics.
-Other duties as specified by the Assistant Dean, the Associate Dean or the Dean of the College of Business & Economics.

Qualifications: This person must show initiative and perform a broad range of complex job responsibilities with limited supervision. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Online Education and Technology, the position requires a well rounded individual with excellent networking/pc troubleshooting technical skills and a background directing and coordinating the activities of functional users in the use of applications and tools.  The individual must be forward looking and able to evaluate, recommend, implement, maintain and support policy and procedures for a variety of technology needs including pc support and distance education functions.  The individual must possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills for customer service needs.  Bachelor’s degree or a combination of equivalent education and related work experience required.
