DEPARTMENT OF ART AND DESIGN - ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTERIM INSTRUCTOR POSITION IN CERAMICS & 3-DIMENSIONAL DESIGN
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Department of Art and Design seeks applications for a qualified interim instructor to teach beginning-thru-advanced Ceramics and one or more 3-Dimensional Design courses for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters.
Minimum qualifications include MFA or equivalent. Previous university-level teaching experience in all levels of Ceramics, and foundational 3-Dimensional Design, is preferred. Individual must be experienced in various aspects of the studio ceramics discipline including hand-building, wheel-throwing, mold-making, and clay and glaze formulation and preparation. Knowledge and experience in electric and gas fired (reduction, salt, soda) kiln operation and construction/maintenance, etc. is highly desirable – interest in maintaining and improving studio facilities and contributing to a well-established Ceramics program is essential. Digital imaging and/or 3-D printing experience relative to Ceramics and/or 3-D Design also desirable, but not required.
Academic Staff Instructor - Salary commensurate with experience.
Whitewater, a city with a population of over 14,000, is located in southeastern Wisconsin near the scenic Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The immediate area offers a wide variety of summer and winter recreational activities, including facilities of the nearby Whitewater Lake recreational area. Whitewater is 45 miles from Madison, 50 miles from Milwaukee, and 110 miles from Chicago.

The NASAD accredited Department of Art and Design offers programs in studio/fine art, art history, graphic design and media arts, serves approximately 500 majors and minors and offers B.A., B.S., B.S.E., and B.F.A. degrees. The Department of Art and Design is a part of the College of Arts and Communication and employs 20+ full and part-time faculty and is located in the Greenhill Center of the Arts, which also houses the Theatre/Dance and Music Departments and the Crossman Gallery (a 2,500 square-foot facility that presents professional, juried and student exhibitions).
