Chemistry

Position:  Academic Staff, Rank of Lecturer for 2008-09 academic year

 

Starting Date:  August 20, 2008

                          

Qualifications:  Ph.D. (or ABD) in Chemistry required.  It is also assumed that the successful candidate will be committed to rigorous standards in the areas of safe laboratory practice and waste disposal. 

 

Salary:  Competitive.  Dependent upon qualifications and experience.

 

Responsibilities:  The position will primarily involve teaching the courses in Introductory Chemistry lecture and laboratory, Chemistry for the Consumer lecture and laboratory (for non-chemistry majors) and Science Technology lecture.

 

University:  UW-Whitewater, with an enrollment of approximately 10,000, is one of thirteen four-year campuses in the UW System.  The Department of Chemistry has eight teaching members, a full-time secretary, and a full-time laboratory technician.

 

Community:  Whitewater, a city of 14,000, is located in southeastern Wisconsin near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest and is 50 miles from Milwaukee, 45 miles from Madison, and 110 miles from Chicago.

Credentials must include a letter of application, vita, an educational summary, all relevant professional experience (including teaching, postdoctoral, industrial, etc.), copies of graduate and undergraduate transcripts, and three current letters of recommendation. (Transcript photocopies are acceptable for initial application.)  Applicants must initiate the submission of recommendation letters.  Unless confidentiality is requested in writing, lists of applicants must be released on request.  Finalists cannot be guaranteed confidentiality.
