Communication Generalist Position

The Department of Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking candidates for a 9-month, full-time, Communication Generalist lecturer position. This appointment is limited to one-year. Starting date for the position is August 21, 2013.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach theoretical and skill-based communication courses which should include several of the following: Introduction to Organizational Communication, Communicating Leadership, Introduction to Human Communication, Listening, Public Speaking, Persuasion, Gender Communication. Experience with classroom technology is desirable. The teaching load for this position is 5-4.

Requirements for the position: Master’s degree in Communication or closely related field. Experience teaching Communication courses at the college level is preferred.

Web Development / Media Arts and Game Development Position

The Department of Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks applications for a 9-month, full-time, lecturer with expertise in Web Development and/or Social Media to teach in our Media Arts and Game Development emphasis. This appointment is limited to one-year. Starting date for the position is August 21, 2013.

The successful candidate must have the academic preparation and demonstrable experience to teach undergraduate courses in two or more of the following areas (Web Development, Social Media Optimization, Flash Development, Web Journalism, New Communication Technologies, Introduction to Media Arts & Game Development). In addition, candidates may be asked to teach courses in Audio Production and Video Production. Candidates should be familiar with a variety of digital multimedia technology and software (e.g. HTML5, Dreamweaver, Processing, After Effects, Flash, or similar software) for Windows and Macintosh operating systems. The teaching load for this position is 5-4.

Requirements for the position: Master’s degree in Communication or closely related field. Professional experience in the Web /Social Media/Multimedia/Gaming Industry is preferred.
