Position Announcement: Director of Institutional Research & Planning
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a Director of Institutional Research & Planning (IRP) with a strategic vision to expand campus capabilities related to the management and dissemination of data for internal and external reporting and campus decision-making. Reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Director of IRP will serve as a primary contact for key decision-makers throughout the university and provide strategic direction and leadership for a new campus office of Institutional Research & Planning.

The new director will enjoy the compelling opportunity to expand the capacity of IRP in support of the university's strategic initiatives and increasing need for data to achieve institutional effectiveness, accountability, and accreditation goals. In particular, we seek a director who will re-organize existing campus services into a more effectively integrated functional cluster; coordinate with academic assessment services; develop new and improved methods for storing and disseminating critical data; and better connect IRP services to strategic planning, program review, assessment, and accreditation functions across campus. The office of IRP also serves the important role as campus liaison for the University of Wisconsin System Office of Policy Analysis and Research.

Qualifications: A master's degree is required, earned doctorate preferred, in a directly relevant discipline and three or more years of demonstrated experience in data management and reporting solutions. 
Candidates for this position must demonstrate experience managing the use of modern technology for the collection, storage, reporting, and dissemination of complex data through the development of systems such as campus dashboards, database query systems, and systems that deliver data to departments and programs in time to meet their reporting needs. The ideal candidate will also possess senior-level management experience related to institutional effectiveness or institutional research; a strong understanding of statistics, information technology, and data collection and analysis; and proven experience as an effective team leader. Knowledge of ERP Systems such as People-Soft as well as query tools is expected. Desirable interpersonal attributes include strong communication skills, deep intellectual curiosity, and demonstrated success working effectively with senior leadership and a broad range of other internal and external constituents.  The candidate should have academic experiences with culturally diverse populations.  

Salary: Salary is commensurate with degree and experience.

Starting Date: Flexible, with July 1, 2013 preferred.
