The University of Wisconsin Whitewater has an opening in Facilities, Planning & Management for a Facilities Maintenance Specialist Advanced position.  This position requires taking a Centered Exam.  An Exam for this position will be administed by OSER December 8, 2012 at various exam locations.  You must pre-register by November 28, 2012.  For more information on the location, times and other necessary instructions visit: http://wisc.jobs/public/links_summary_page.asp?catid=70.  This position is located at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Facilities, Planning & Management. This is a full time, year round position, working Monday through Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm.

This position provides advanced maintenance and repair work for building mechanical systems within an assigned zone in Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M).  The FMS Adv performs preventive maintenance and minor mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs to air compressors, air handling units, pumps, water heaters and softeners, exhaust fans, emergency generators and other related equipment.  More complex repairs and installations are performed by departmental craftworkers assisted by the FMS Adv.  The position works independently, under the general supervision of the Zone Supervisor.

Knowledge and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of cooling, heating, and venting equipment and controls.
Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers, staff, and supervisors.
Ability to be on-call and perform emergency duties.
Knowledge of utility meters (water, electrical, and natural gas).
Knowledge of proper tools to be used for troubleshooting, maintenance, modifications, repairs, and preventive maintenance of valve operators, damper operators, solenoid, motor, thermostats, compressors, heating and cooling systems, etc.
Ability to calibrate thermostats and adjust air damper.
Ability to read computer print outs and formulate a solution.
Skilled in interpreting blueprints and complex schematic diagrams to devise proper repairs or adjustments to systems.

Special Requirements:  A valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required.
