Description:  The Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater invites applications for one full-time tenure track faculty position in the Statistics area beginning August 12, 2012.  Responsibilities include teaching 12 undergraduate credits per semester in statistics and/or mathematics in support of the department’s programs.  In addition to teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of scholarly development, and to participate in service activities including (but not limited to) advising students, committee responsibilities, program assessment and curriculum development.  The department is particularly interested in candidates that can provide leadership in the design, development, expansion and promotion of the statistics program.  Interest in the scholarship of statistical reasoning, thinking and literacy; advancing undergraduate research in statistics; promoting statistical consulting or actuarial mathematics is a plus.
 
Starting Date:     8/22/2012

Qualifications:   An earned doctorate in statistics, statistics education, research methods with a strong emphasis in statistics/quantitative methods, or an earned doctorate in mathematics or a related field with the ability to teach upper division statistics and/or actuarial mathematics courses is required.  ABD is welcome with the expectation of degree completion by August 22, 2012.

General Information:   The UW-Whitewater Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences offers a range of undergraduate programs in mathematics, computer science, and mathematics education, including an anticipated new major in computer science starting in Fall 2012. In addition, the department also lends support to a new Media Arts and Game Development major and the nationally recognized inter-college Management Computer Systems major.  There are currently 30 faculty and academic staff in the department.
