Mathematics and Computer Sciences Department
Description: The Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater invites applications for at least one Part-time academic staff lecturer position in Mathematics and Computer Science beginning August 24, 2008. Responsibilities include teaching 6-7 undergraduate credits in the fall term, and 5-6 undergraduate credits in spring, in mathematics. An ability to teach undergraduate courses in the computer science curriculum is highly desirable, but not required. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly activity. Experience in using technology in the classroom is a plus.
Starting Date: 8/24/2008
Qualifications: An earned master’s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or computer science is required. Preference may be shown to candidates with an earned doctorate in one of these disciplines.

General Information: The UW-Whitewater Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences offers a range of
undergraduate programs in mathematics, computer science, and mathematics education and also lends support to a nationally recognized inter-college Management Computer Systems major. There are currently 30 faculty and academic staff in the department.
University and Community: Founded in 1868, UW-Whitewater is a premier regional public university with an enrollment of
approximately 10,500 students in 43 undergraduate majors and 14 graduate degree programs. It offers high-quality career-oriented programs integrated with a model general education curriculum. UW-Whitewater is part of the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System. Located in a community of approximately 12,000 residents near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest in southeastern Wisconsin, Whitewater is within convenient driving distance to the metropolitan areas of Milwaukee, Madison, and Chicago.
Application: A complete application credential packet consists of a letter of application, curriculum vita, reflective statement of teaching philosophy, three current letters of recommendation including at least one which evaluates teaching effectiveness, and copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
