Position:   A one-year full-time lecturer

Qualifications:  At least a MS degree or PhD candidacy in physics. Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Applicants from closely related fields may apply.

Responsibilities: The position is a one year, full-time teaching assignment in the Department of Physics.  Candidates must be able to teach an introductory physics course for non-majors, physics for elementary teachers and both introductory physics and astronomy laboratories.  Teaching responsibilities include setup and maintenance of equipment.

University: UW-Whitewater is a premier public regional university with an enrollment of 10,500 students in 42 undergraduate majors and 13 master's degree programs.  It offers high-quality, career oriented programs with a model general education curriculum.  The Physics Department has six full-time faculty or academic staff positions and a program assistant.  The department's web site is: http://academics.uww.edu/physics/

Community: Whitewater, a city of 13,000, is located in southeastern Wisconsin near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest.  The immediate area offers a wide variety of summer and winter recreational activities, including facilities of the nearby Whitewater Lake recreational area.  Whitewater is 50 miles from Milwaukee, 45 miles from Madison and 110 miles from Chicago.  The Synchrotron Radiation Center is nearby in Stoughton, WI.

Application:  A complete application package must include a letter of application, vita including all relevant professional experience, a statement on teaching experience and philosophy with teaching evaluation scores (if available), all undergraduate and graduate transcripts (photocopies are acceptable for initial application) and letters or Email statements from at least three (3) references.  At least one reference must vouch for stated teaching evaluations.
