Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Psychology

Experimental Psychology; Tenure Track Assistant Professor position, University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. 

The Department of Psychology at UW-Whitewater invites applications for a newly established tenure-line position in experimental psychology starting August, 2013. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or ABD in experimental psychology or related areas. This position requires a demonstrated record or evident potential for effective teaching and for maintaining a strong program of research that involves students in meaningful ways. Duties will include developing and teaching upper level undergraduate courses in our Psychological Sciences Graduate Preparation emphasis, teaching Research Methods, Statistics, and Learning and Conditioning, and involving undergraduates in experimental psychology research program. Other teaching responsibilities will depend on specialization (possibly including courses in the biological bases of behavior, perception, and other experimental psychology courses), and may include introductory courses in psychology and/or in our general education curriculum. We are especially interested in candidates who will enhance the diversity of our department.

Qualifications: Candidates should have a doctorate (or ABD)  in Experimental Psychology or related psychological science field.

Responsibilities: Duties may include developing upper level undergraduate courses in our Psychological Sciences Graduate Preparation emphasis, teaching research methods, statistics, learning and conditioning, and courses in biological basis of behavior, as well as teaching introductory courses in psychology and/or in our general education curriculum. The position requires a demonstrated record or evident potential for effective teaching and for maintaining a strong program of research that involves students in meaningful ways.  We have an excellent university Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and start-up funding is negotiable.

Community: Whitewater, a city of over 14,000, is located in southeastern Wisconsin near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest.  The immediate area offers a wide variety of summer and winter recreational activities, including facilities of the nearby Whitewater Lake recreational area.  Whitewater is 50 miles from Milwaukee, 45 miles from Madison and 110 miles from Chicago.
