The Faculty of the Department of Social Work at the University of Whitewater is seeking a colleague. Our baccalaureate social work program, accredited since 1974, is known for strong student-faculty interaction and dynamic students. The Social Work Department is engaged with social service agencies, the surrounding area, and professional organizations.Position: Probationary tenure track faculty position in the Department of Social Work at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2012.
Qualifications: An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program with two years full-time post-MSW employment in social work, and a doctorate in social work (or related field) from a nationally accredited institution of higher education are required for initial appointment as an assistant professor. ABD considered, but doctorate must be completed by May 31, 2012. Teaching experience and proficiency of educational technology are required. A commitment to undergraduate education is also expected.
Responsibilities: Teach required courses in Social Work Practice, Child Welfare, and Human Behavior in the Social Environment. Responsibilities also include course and curriculum planning, evaluation of program and student outcomes, a research agenda, and service to the department, community, and profession.
Preference: Will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to work effectively with those from diverse backgrounds and demonstrated cultural competence. Other considerations include experience and expertise in domestic violence, experience with educational technology and knowledge of the Council on Social Work Education accreditation standards.
