Assistant Professor - Cross Categorical Special Education

The Department of Special Education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announces a full time tenure track position in the area of cross categorical special education beginning fall term, 2012.

Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advising, supervision of field experiences, scholarship, and service. Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to work with non-traditional students are essential to this position. Some travel may be required for this position. All faculty at UW-Whitewater may be required to teach online and hybrid courses, weekend and/or evening classes, and provide service to the university and local community in a variety of modalities, including leading Learning Communities, mentoring students, and providing professional development opportunities for colleagues, schools and community groups. The positions will start August 22nd, 2012.

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate (ABD considered) in special education or a closely related field. A minimum of three years experience teaching individuals with disabilities in the elementary, middle, and/or secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications: University teaching, advising, and supervision experience. Potential for or an established record of scholarly activity. A demonstrated commitment to the preparation of teachers within a multicultural context. Special consideration will be given to applicants with co-teaching or inclusive education experience.

Located in a community near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest in southeastern Wisconsin, Whitewater is within convenient driving distance to the metropolitan areas of Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago.
