Full Time Tenure Track Faculty Position in Statistics Education

Mathematical and Computer Sciences

Description:  The Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater invites applications for one full-time tenure track faculty position in the Statistics area beginning August 21, 2013.  Responsibilities include teaching 12 undergraduate credits per semester in statistics and/or mathematics in support of the department’s programs.  In addition to a strong commitment to undergraduate statistics education, the candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of scholarly development and to participate in service activities including (but not limited to) advising students, committee responsibilities, program assessment and curriculum development.  The successful candidate will have:  1) interest and/or experience in the application of modern and computer intensive statistical methods, and 2) leadership potential to further develop and promote the statistics program.  Interest or experience in advancing:  undergraduate research in statistics, the scholarship of statistics education, statistical consulting and collaborative scholarship, AP statistics teacher education or actuarial science is a plus.
 
Starting Date: 8/21/2013

Qualifications: An earned doctorate in statistics, statistics education, research methods with a strong emphasis in statistics/quantitative methods, or an earned doctorate in mathematics or a related field with the ability to teach upper division statistics courses is required.  ABD is welcome with the expectation of degree completion by August 21, 2013.

General Information: The UW-Whitewater Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences offer a range of Undergraduate programs in mathematics, mathematics education, computer science, and statistics.  In addition, the department also lends support to a new Media Arts and Game Development major.  There are currently 30 faculty and academic staff in the department.
