Early Childhood -  Tenure Track

Curriculum & Instruction

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announces a full time tenure track position in the area of early childhood education beginning in the 2009 academic year. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department and in the Early Childhood Education program, which is an interdisciplinary major; advising, supervision of field experiences and directed teaching; some administrative duties; and participation in research, grant writing, and service activities. The position will start August 23, 2010.

Required Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with strong credentials in early childhood education with a minimum of three years of teaching in early childhood or primary school education.  An earned Ph.D. or Ed. D. (preferred), ABD (accepted) in early childhood education or closely related field with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: University teaching, advising, and supervision experience. Potential for or an established record of scholarly activity. A demonstrated commitment to the preparation of teachers within a multicultural context. Collaboration skills to work with a cross-departmental team.

 

University and Community: UW-Whitewater is a premier public university with an enrollment of 10,500 students. The College of Education matriculates the largest number of educators in the state of Wisconsin.  The campus is part of the 26-campus University of Wisconsin system. Located in a community near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest in southeastern Wisconsin, Whitewater is within convenient driving distance to the metropolitan areas of Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago.
