  1. Call to Order: Chair Erdmann called the meeting to order at 2:19 p.m.
  2. Roll Call

  4. Reports of Committees
    1. Transmittal of actions of the University Curriculum Committee meeting of Friday, Nov. 1, 2002 (available at http://acadaff.uww.edu/ucc/2002-03/110102T.html )  (Note: the UCC meeting for November 15 was canceled): Cartwright/Hogan moved approval of actionable items. Passed. FS0203-12
    2. Faculty Senate Executive Committee: Cartwright/Porter moved approval of the resolution. Passed. FS0203-13
    3. Resolved that the Faculty Senate revises the criteria and selection process for the annual Faculty Service Award as indicated in "Nominations for UW-WHITEWATER FACULTY SERVICE AWARD proposed revisions for Faculty Senate, December 10, 2002"
  5. New Business
    1. Retirement Resolution(s): Parks/Weston moved to approve the retirement resolution for Sandra Snow, Economics. Passed unanimously. FS0203-14
    2. Resolution on December 2002 Graduates: Kozlowicz/Ahmadi moved approval of the resolution. Passed. FS0203-15
    3. Resolved that the Faculty Senate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater recommends to the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents that the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater students who have applied for graduation in December 2002 and who have been certified by the University Registrar to have met all academic requirements and completed all of their courses of study be granted their degrees at the December 2002 commencement exercises.
    4. Choose one faculty member as the Senate's representative to the Women's Issues Committee (at the request of Committee Chair Zohreh Ghavamshahidi): Ahmadi/Weston moved to close nominations and declare Carlos de Onis elected. Passed.
    5. Appoint one faculty member to the UW-Whitewater Foundation Board: Kozlowicz/Klug moved to close nominations and declare Roxanne DePaul elected. Passed.
    6. Choose one Senator as the Senate's representative to the committee to complete UWW's Phase I Report on Plan 2008 and begin developing Phase II of UWW's Plan 2008: Dollarhide/Hogan moved to close nominations and declare Susan Johnson elected. Passed.
    7. Resolution forming a faculty committee on University Core Values (please see the attachment): Ossers/Gwalla-Ogisi moved approval of the resolution. Passed. FS0203-16
    8. Resolved
      1. that the Faculty Senate create an ad hoc Senate committee to consider whether the "core values" as expressed in "University Goals -- Core Values" are consistent with the UWW Select Mission, indicating where there is alignment or misalignment, and to consider whether the core values are appropriately reflected in the University Goals:
      2. that the committee be composed of five tenured Senators, to be chosen immediately upon the Senate's approval of this resolution,
        1. one to represent Arts and Communication
        2. one to represent Business and Economics
        3. one to represent Education
        4. one to represent Letters and Sciences
        5. one to represent the library and other faculty
      3. that the committee report on its recommendations at the March 10 Faculty Senate meeting
      4. that, upon approval of the Faculty Senate and on behalf of the Senate, the Senate chair forward the committee's report to the Strategic Planning and Budget Committee
