  1. Call to Order:  Chair Erdmann called the meeting to order at 2:20 p.m.

    2. Senators present:  Alario, Albrechtsen, Bren, Cartwright, Chenoweth, Epps, Erdmann, Ferencz, Ghavamshahidi, Gruber, Habanek, Hixson, Johnson, Klug, Kolb, Leitheiser, Molloy, Munro, Ossers, Portman, Topp, Valadez, White
    3. Senators absent: *Huang, Nam, Sawyer, Sherlock, *Weston, Wildermuth, *Zhao (*informed Secretary)
       
  3. Election of Senate Officers
    1. Elect a Faculty Senate Chair: Klug/Epps moved to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Ed Erdmann.  Passed. 
    2. Elect a Faculty Senate Secretary:  Ossers/Valadez moved to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Susan Johnson.  Passed. 
    3. Select the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, representing:
      1. College of Arts and Communication (chosen in caucus): Kim Hixson
      2. College of Business and Economics (chosen in caucus): Jim Molloy
      3. College of Education (chosen in caucus): Virginia Epps
      4. College of Letters and Sciences (chosen in caucus): Hadley Klug
      5. University Library and other (chosen in caucus): Barbara Bren
      6. At Large (elected by Senate): Manuel Ossers
      7. At Large (elected by Senate):  Robert Gruber

    1. Senate Meeting Dates and Times
      1. Faculty Senate: September 13, 2005; October 11, 2005; November 8, 2005; December 13, 2005; February 7, 2006; March 14, 2006; April 11, 2006; May 2, 2006; Meetings begin at 2:15 p.m., in the James R. Connor University Center 219 (as reservations permit) and continue until business is finished, potentially 5 PM or later 
      2. Faculty Senate Executive Committee:*  August 30, 2005; September 27, 2005; October 25, 2005; November 29, 2005; January 24, 2005; February 28, 2006; March 28, 2006; April 18, 2006; Meetings of the Executive Committee are typically at 2:15 in UC 65, the Governance Center (below Hamilton Center), on Tuesdays two weeks before Senate meetings and as needed.
             
  5. Adjournment:  Epps/Klug moved approval to adjourn at 2:36 p.m.  Passed.
* The UWW Faculty Constitution Sec. 4 A. 2. specifies that "During the intervals between meetings of the Faculty Senate the Executive Committee shall conduct the business of the Faculty Senate subject to the constraint imposed upon it by the Senate." Hence, those who serve on the Executive Committee should be prepared--if not actually to meet during the summer months--at least to be available for communication with the chair throughout the summer months.
