BOARD RESPONSIBILITY AND MEMBER EXPECTATIONS
As a member of the UW-Whitewater Foundation Board of Directors, you have a number of very important responsibilities outside of simply serving on the governing Board of the Foundation. Members are expected to carry out the functions listed below to the best of their abilities:
Oversee the Foundation’s general mission: acquiring, managing, and distributing charitable gifts that benefit UW-Whitewater,
Help to clearly define responsibilities, set realistic goals, and establish a clear evaluation system for staff members
Attend three regular meetings of the Board of Directors a year, including the corresponding committee meeting. We ask that Board members come to the meetings well prepared, having read the advance material ahead of time. Members may also be asked to serve on various task forces for their input on an ongoing basis.
Participate in the life of the University by attending events such as Homecoming, athletic events, etc.
Donate to the UW-Whitewater Foundation on a leadership level. We generally ask Directors to donate “their proudest gift” to the Foundation on an annual basis.
Be willing to identify, cultivate, rate or solicit charitable gift prospects.
Assist in the fund-raising planning and goal-setting process.
Communicate the charitable interests of various constituencies to the Foundation’s staff members.
Be an advocate on the Foundation and University’s behalf.
Keep up to date on issues facing the University, its students, and the community.
Identify prospective new members who have the ability to fulfill the above requirements.
