  1. Call to Order:  Chair Erdmann called the meeting to order at 2:20 p.m.
  2. Roll Call
    1. Welcome to new members: 
      1. Professors Mohammad Ahmadi (returning), Jerry Gosen (returning), David Cartwright (returning after sabbatical),  David Porter (returning after hiatus).  There remains one vacancy at the Professor level.
      2. Associate Professors Athula Gunawardena, Joseph Hogan (returning after sabbatical), Susan Johnson (returning), Sharon Kolb (returning), Robert Leitheiser (returning), John Valadez (returning).
      3. Assistant Professors Jolly Emrey, Darlene Habanek (returning), Chris Henige, Michael Hertting, Gayle Mercer, Max White (returning)
    2.   3. Election of Senate Officers
    1. Elect a Faculty Senate Chair:  Joe Hogan selected by unanimous consent.
    2. Elect a Faculty Senate Secretary:  Karen Weston selected by unanimous consent.
    3. Select the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, representing:
      1. College of Arts and Communication (chosen in caucus): Elena Bertozzi
      2. College of Business and Economics (chosen in caucus): John Aulerich
      3. College of Education (chosen in caucus): Andrew Kapp
      4. College of Letters and Sciences (chosen in caucus): Neil Sawyer
      5. University Library and other (chosen in caucus): Joyce Huang
      6. At Large (elected by Senate):  Jim Molloy
      7. At Large (elected by Senate):  Mohammad Ahmadi
  4. Weston/Ahmadi moved to congratulate Ed Erdmann on his tenure as Senate Chair.  Huang/Ahmadi moved to congratulate Susan Johnson on her tenure as Senate Secretary.  Senators indicated their approval with applause.
  5. Announcements
    1. Senate Meeting Dates and Times
      1. Faculty Senate: September 12, 2006; October 10, 2006; November 14, 2006; December 12, 2006; February 13, 2007; March 13, 2007; April 10, 2007; May 8, 2007; Meetings begin at 2:15 p.m.  Faculty Senate meetings continue until business is finished, potentially 5 PM or later.  Given that the University Center is to be reconstructed and UC 219 will be no more, the location(s) of the Senate meetings for 2006-2007 has/have not yet been determined.
      2. Faculty Senate Executive Committee:*  August 29, 2005; September 26, 2005; October 31, 2005; November 28, 2005; January 30, 2005; February 27, 2006; March 27, 2006; April 24, 2006; Meetings of the Executive Committee are typically at 2:15 on Tuesdays two weeks before Senate meetings and as needed.    Given that the University Center is to be reconstructed the location(s) of the Faculty Senate  Executive Committee meetings for 2006-2007 has/have not yet been determined. 
  6. Adjournment:    Ahmadi/Henige moved adjournment at 2:55 p.m.  Passed.
* The UWW Faculty Constitution Sec. 4 A. 2. specifies that "During the intervals between meetings of the Faculty Senate the Executive Committee shall conduct the business of the Faculty Senate subject to the constraint imposed upon it by the Senate." Hence, those who serve on the Executive Committee should be prepared--if not actually to meet during the summer months--at least to be available for communication with the chair throughout the summer months.
