May 2006 "Graduation Resolution": Resolved that the Faculty Senate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater recommends to the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents that the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater students who have applied for graduation in May 2006 and who have been certified by the University Registrar to have met all academic requirements and completed all of their courses of study be granted their degrees at the May 2006 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater commencement exercises.

    1. Retirement Resolution(s): Victoria A. Topp, Reference Librarian and Assistant Professor of University Library; attached to the paper copy
    2. Resolution on the UWW Undergraduate Grading System: Whereas, the Chancellor of the University in consultation with the Faculty is responsible for establishing grading systems within the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (s36.09(3)(a) WI Stats. and the UWW Constitution of the Faculty [available at http://www.uww.edu/uwwhdbk/FacConstitution.htm]); and the current system of grading for undergraduate students consisting of five increments does not allow for sufficient specificity to reflect the students' command of the subject matter; be it resolved that the UW-Whitewater Faculty Senate calls for a change to the undergraduate grading system from the current system of five increments; and be it resolved represented by the letter designations A, B, C, D and F to one of twelve increments with the indicated point values: A (4.00), A- (3.67), B+ (3.33), B (3.00), B- (2.67), C+ (2.33), C (2.00), C- (1.67), D+ (1.33), D (1.00), D- (0.67), and F (0.00); and be it resolved that the Senate requests that the Registrar report at the May 2, 2006 Faculty Senate meeting on a plan for implementing this twelve increment system.
    3. Resolution on the location of the University Bookstore:  Whereas books are an integral part of a student's education; and, Whereas the development of an academic and intellectual culture requires an appreciation of books; and, Whereas the development of an appreciation of books requires constant exposure and easy access to them; and, Whereas the University Bookstore, located in Moraine Hall is out of the mainstream of student and faculty traffic that is located primarily in the University Center; Be it resolved that the University Bookstore, at least the non-textbook rental portion, be moved to the remodeled University Center after the completion of the scheduled construction.
    4. Resolution on the deadline for adding a class: Resolved that the add deadline be extended to the sixth day of classes to allow students' opportunity to add one-day-a-week Monday evening classes. Please see the attach paper copy.
