  1. Call to Order:  Chair Erdmann called the meeting to order at 2:21 p.m.

    1. Resolution on changing the undergraduate grading system (postponed from the November 8, 2005 Senate meeting, see item 6.2. at http://www.uww.edu/facsenate/archives/2005_2006/minutes/M110805.html; and postponed from the February 7, 2006 meeting, see item 5.1. at http://www.uww.edu/facsenate/archives/2005_2006/minutes/M020706.html)
      Whereas, the Chancellor of the University in consultation with the Faculty is responsible for establishing grading systems within the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (s.36.09(3)(a) Wi Stats and Article II of the UWW Constitution of the Faculty); and the current system of grading for undergraduate students, consisting of five increments, does not allow for sufficient specificity to accurately reflect the students' command of the subject matter; be it resolved that the UW-Whitewater Faculty Senate calls for a change to the undergraduate grading system from the current system of 5 increments represented by the letter designations A, B, C, D and F to one of seven increments A, A/B, B, B/C, C, D, F.  Kapp/Gruber moved approval.  Failed.

      1. Undergraduate Admissions Review Process (attached to the paper copy): University under mandate to revise its admissions policy as a result of the two U.S. Supreme Court cases dealing with affirmative action.  The Senate will be asked to consider the new proposal at a future meeting.
      2. Draft Strategic Plan: Distributed an updated draft of the Strategic Plan - University of Wisconsin-Whitewater - Regional Leadership, National Presence, Global Vision
      3. HLC will be presenting its findings to the campus Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 9 a.m. in UC 219.
      4. Budget Reduction 2006-2007:  Distributed and discussed a summary of the budget reduction exercise for 2006-2007.
      5. Equity Scorecard:  Distributed an Equity Scorecard handout.  Discussed UWW's role in the Equity Scorecard Project.
      6. Faculty Salary Plan:  Process underway to award adjustments based on compression, equity and market portion of the salary plan.
