  2. Roll Call
    1. Welcome to new members: 
      1. Representing the College of Arts and Communication: Elena Bertozzi (returning), Barbara Bren (returning), and Karen Weston (returning). There remain two vacancies for the College of Arts and Communication.
      2. Representing the College of Business and Economics: William Dougan, William Drago, Robert Gruber (returning), Jim Molloy (returning), and Louise Tourigny.
      3. Representing the College of Education: Amy Stevens Griffith, Edric Johnson, and Rowland Robinson. There remain two vacancies for the College of Education
      4. Representing the College of Letters and Sciences: Ed Erdmann (returning), Fe Evangelistica, Hephzibah Kumpaty, Manuel Ossers, (returning), and Sobitha Samaranayake.
    2. Senators present: Ahmadi,Bertozzi, Bren, Dougan, Drago, Emrey, Erdmann, Evangelista, Gosen, Gruver, Gunawaradena, Henige, Hogan, S. Johnson, Kumpaty, Mercer, Molloy,Ossers, Porter, Robinson,Tourigny, Weston, White
    3. Senators absent: (*informed Secretary) Cartwright*,  Ghavamshahidi*, Griffith,Habanek*, E. Johnson, Kolb*,Leitheiser, Samaranayake, Valadez*.  Hertting resigned.
  3. Election of Senate Officers
    1. Elect a Faculty Senate Chair – Joseph Hogan.  Nominated by Ahmadi/Henige; motion for unanimous consent by Erdmann/Ossers.
    2. Elect a Faculty Senate Secretary – Karen Weston.  Nominated byAhmadi/Bertozzi; motion for unanimous consent by Erdmann/Bertozzi.
    3. Select the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, representing:
      1. College of Arts and Communication (chosen in caucus) – Elena Bertozzi
      2. College of Business and Economics (chosen in caucus) – David Porter
      3. College of Education (chosen in caucus) – Postponed
      4. College of Letters and Sciences (chosen in caucus) – Hephzibah Kumpaty
      5. At Large (elected by Senate) – James Molloy
      6. At Large (elected by Senate) – Mohammad Ahmadi
        Molloy nominated by Porter/Bertozzi.  Ahmadi nominated by S. Johnson/Emrey.  Motion of unanimous consent for both by Erdmann/S. Johnson.
  4. Announcements
    1. Senate Meeting Dates and Times
      1. Faculty Senate: September 11, 2007; October 9, 2007; November 13, 2007; December 11, 2007; February 12, 2008; March 11, 2008; April 8, 2007; May 6, 2007. Meetings begin at 2:15 p.m.  Faculty Senate meetings continue until business is finished, potentially 5 PM or later.  The location(s) of the Senate meetings for 2007-2008 has/have not yet been determined.
      2. Faculty Senate Executive Committee:*  August 28, 2007; September 25, 2007; October 30, 2007; November 27, 2007; January 29, 2008; February 26, 2008; March 18, 2008; April 22, 2008. Meetings of the Executive Committee are typically at 2:15 on Tuesdays two weeks before Senate meetings and as needed.  The tentative location is Ambose Health Center 2023N. 
  5. Adjournment  2:35 PM on an Ahmadi/Erdmann motion.

* The UWW Faculty Constitution Sec. 4 A. 2. specifies that "During the intervals between meetings of the Faculty Senate the Executive Committee shall conduct the business of the Faculty Senate subject to the constraint imposed upon it by the Senate." Hence, those who serve on the Executive Committee should be prepared--if not actually to meet during the summer months--at least to be available for communication with the chair throughout the summer months.
