  3. Approval of Minutes: 2006/2007 Faculty Senate Meeting, October 10, 2006 (attached to the paper copy and available at http://www.uww.edu/facsenate/archives/2006_2007/minutes/M101006.html).  Clarification added to 7 (3) (1) (3) (5)  "two year period up  to and including 200 level classes"  Passed on a Ahmadi/Henige motion.

  4. Reports of Committees
    1. University Curriculum Committee:
      1. Transmittal of actions of Friday, October 20, 2006 (attached to the paper copy and available at http://acadaff.uww.edu/UCC/2006-07/102006/102006T.htm for download links).  Passed on a Bren/Kapp motion. FS0607-07
    2. Faculty Senate Executive Committee:
      1. Report on FS0506-03.  The Provost explained Systemlegal's concerns with the questioned passage.  Erdmann/Ahmadi moved to rescind the Senates approval and refer the passage back to the Personnel Rules Committee for their consideration and a report to the Senate in April.  Passed.
      2. Report on Criminal Background Check Policy.  After lengthy discussion, Huang/Porter offered the following amendment:
        University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Faculty Senate recommends that when the Board of Regents adopts a comprehensive policy requiring that allUniversity of Wisconsin institutions conduct criminal background checks on new hires, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater shall use its governance process to adopt criminal background check implementations policies and procedures, and that the institution will submit its plan to the University of Wisconsin System General Counsel andUniversity of Wisconsin System Office of Human Resources for review and approval. Passed. FS0607-08

  5. Unfinished Business
    1. Senators in the Business and Economics constituency are to indicate their selection of one faculty member to the General Education Review Committee (for the bylaws, please see http://www.uww.edu/uwwhdbk/committees/FC-GenEd.htm), a 2 year term ending in 2008.  Jeffery Heinrich of Economics selected.

  6. New Business:
    1. Retirement Resolution: Charles H.Zastrow.   Passed on aKapp/Sawyer motion. FS0607-09
    2. Recommendations for one faculty member to serve on the Campus Safety Committee, a three-year term to end 2009 (for the bylaws please see http://www.uww.edu/uwwhdbk/committees/AC-Safety.htm).   Paul Ambrose of ITBE elected.
    3. Appoint one faculty member to the University Center Board, two-year appointment to end in 2008 (for the bylaws please see http://uc.uww.edu/opmanual/section4/4p1.html; the continuing member isJianzhou Zhu, appointment ending in 2007).  Postponed.
    4. Faculty Service Award Selection Committee (ElenaBertozzi and Jim Molloy are continuing in 2007) (please see http://acadaff.uww.edu/awards/SERVICE.html):
      1. Choose two Faculty Senators for a two-year term ending 2008 terms.  SteveAlbrechtsen and JohnValadez elected on an Erdmann/Sawyer motion for unanimous consent.
      2. Choose one former recipient of the Faculty Service Award to serve a one-year term, 2006/2007. Robert Gruber volunteered.

  7. Announcements and Information (no action unless noted otherwise)
    1. Report of the Chancellor: None
    2. Report of the Provost: None
    3. Report of the Senate Chair:
      1. Faculty Representatives have met with the Specter Committee on UWS 7 draft.   Amendments have been made to improve criteria definitions and back pay for exonerated.  The Personnel Rules Committee has made recommendations for Chair Hogan to carry to the Committee.
      2. The Board is examining transfer agreements between System and the Technical colleges.   Some concern has been raised about a lack of governance input on curricular ramifications.
      3. Proposed changes to the Constitution and By-laws relative to the Other constituency have been reviewed by the members of Other and forwarded to the Organization Committee and will be voted on at the spring Faculty meeting.
