    2. Faculty Personnel Rules Committee:
      Rules governing UWS 7:
      Be it resolved that the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater faculty adopt Chapter 7 of the Faculty Personnel Rules, implementation of UWS 7 of the Administrative Code:

      Chapter VII-RULES GOVERNING DISMISSAL OF FACULTY IN SPECIAL
      CASES UNDER UWS 7, WISCONSIN ADMINISTRATIVE CODE

      A. Definitions
      1. "appropriate institutional governance representatives" shall mean the
      Faculty Senate Chair and/or her/his designees,
      2. "appropriate faculty governance representatives" shall mean the
      Faculty Senate Chair and/or her/his designees, and
      3. "institutional standing committee" shall mean the Faculty Appeals
      Grievance, and Disciplinary Hearing Committee.

    3. Senate Executive Committee:
      1. Endorsement of the Shared Governance Principles and Guidelines (attached to the paper copy). Endorsed after debate on a Portman/Erdmann motion. FS0708-12

    1. Retirement Resolutions: None.
    2. Resolution on Desire2Learn:
      Whereas a majority of the students and faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater depend upon Desire2Learn technology as part of the educational support infrastructure; and
      Whereas the performance of the system at the beginning and end of academic periods has been unacceptably slow; and
      Whereas the performance problems seem to be reoccurring over several years; and
      Whereas these problems have negatively impacted the education of the students across the University; and
      Whereas the ability to address the performance problems is outside of the control of this campus;
      Therefore be it resolved that the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater hereby formally expresses its dissatisfaction with the performance of the current implementation, infrastructure, and management of Desire2Learn and request that the University of Wisconsin System Administration investigate the systemic nature of the problem and resolve it. Furthermore we respectfully request a report of the outcome of such an investigation.       Approved after debate on a Ossers/Ghavamshahidi motion. FS0708-13
    3. Faculty Service Award Selection Committee (Steve Albrechtsen is continuing in 2008) (please see http://www.uww.edu/acadaff/awards/index.html):
      Choose two Faculty Senators for a two-year term ending 2009. Elena Bertozzi and Jim Molloy elected.
      Choose one former recipient of the Faculty Service Award to serve a one-year term, 2007/2008. Robert Gruber elected.
      Choose one Faculty Senator for a one-year term ending 2008. Jolly Emery elected.
    4. Memorial Committee: appoint one faculty member to a three year term to expire 2010 (see http://www.uww.edu/uwwhdbk/committees/ac-memorial.htm) (FYI: continuing: Carol Normand, term to expire 2008; Glenn Hayes, term to expire 2009). Rowand Robinson elected.
