  6. New Business:
    1. Retirement Resolutions: None.
    2. Resolution on establishing an ad hoc committee to study the integrity of online courses:
      Whereas, since the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is offering more online courses, the integrity of these courses has become of greater concern; and
      Whereas, since how one can one verify whether a person taking a test is the person getting credit for the course, the issue of cheating takes on a new dimension with internet courses; and
      Whereas, while the College of Business and Economics has developed set of guidelines for online testing, the issue of the integrity of internet courses needs a more thorough examination;
      Therefore be it resolved that an ad hoc committee be formed to investigate what needs to be done to guarantee the integrity of online courses and that they report to Faculty Senate at its April 2008 meeting.
        Ahmadi/Gosen moved for consideration of the motion.  Discussion followed.  A friendly amendment to strike the second and third Whereases was accepted.  Erdmann/Cartwright moved to refer the motion to the Executive Committee for revision.  The Executive Committee or its designee is to consider the scope of the proposed committee, its specific charge,  the composition of the committee, to whom/where/when it is to report, and its relation of the committee's work and report to the departments and colleges and to the university curricular process.  The motion to refer passed.
