Financial Aid Office

Award Process

  • Each applicant is considered for all types of aid available for which he/she is eligible according to state and federal regulations.
  • The student must be enrolled at least half time for most financial aid programs (6 credits for undergraduates and 4.5 graduate level credits for graduates).
  • Students are awarded financial aid based on actual enrollment if they are registered at the time the award is made; otherwise, awarding is based upon a projected level.
  • Students must inform the Financial Aid Office if the enrollment that the aid was based on is not correct. Failure to do so may result in a delayed disbursement of funds.
  • Grants and/or loans will be disbursed or directly credited to the student's account at the beginning of each term.
  • Students who receive financial aid may be required to repay any or all of the funds received.
  • The financial aid package may be a combination of grants, loans, and employment. The actual package is based on state and federal regulations and availability of funds.
  • The student's financial aid package is subject to change based upon other resources i.e., private scholarships, fee waivers, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation funds, resident/campus assistantships, veterans' benefits, etc.
  • An applicant is ineligible for aid if he/she owes an overpayment or is in default on any Title IV grant or loan at any institution.
  • Continued eligibility for receiving financial aid is based upon financial need and meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
  • Contact the FAO regarding changes in the family's financial situation i.e., significant decrease in income, separation or divorce, death or disability, unusual medical expenses, and child care costs.
