Katie Kuznacic describes herself as a people person. She's a good listener who enjoys meeting new people, even when they don't agree with her.
Those skills -- plus her speech and public relations degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater -- helped her when she worked in the Wisconsin Legislature, meeting political constituents and people who would be affected by proposed laws.
"It was a great experience," she said. "I met so many great people. You have to find common ground with everybody."
She first arrived at UW-Whitewater as a freshman from Baldwin, a small town in St. Croix County. She met her husband, Eric, through mutual friends on campus, even though he wasn't a Warhawk himself.
They live in Janesville, which is home base for their goal of exploring every Wisconsin state park with their dog, Snickers, an Australian Kelpie mix.
Now that she's back on campus, Kuznacic is enthusiastic about sharing the special message of UW-Whitewater and how its supporters can change lives by helping today's students.
"I can't think of a better feeling than knowing you've had a positive impact on someone else," she said.
