COMMunity is a learning community created to inspire creativity, cultivate leadership skills, and ensure career advancement opportunities for communication students interested in advertising, corporate communication, health communication, and public relations. Designed to help first-year students achieve academic success, our diverse student members enjoy hands-on career guidance, pre-enrollment in high demand courses, on-demand peer mentorship and academic support, field trips, industry guest speakers, and convenient living arrangements near fellow members. Open to all majors across campus, our program is also perfect for undeclared students interested in professions related to communication: journalism, marketing, event planning, social media, promotions, project management, recruiting, non-profits, brand management and health advocacy. COMMunity members have fun learning and growing together as they build confidence in their communication knowledge and skills, all with an eye toward achieving positive professional results in a wide variety of exciting careers in communication.
Who can I live with if I join this learning community?
You can live with anyone in a Learning Community living in Lee Hall (please see our FAQ page for a complete listing of those LCs in Lee Hall)
All students are welcome join regardless of major. This LC is primarily designed for student majoring in advertising, public relations, and corporate & health communication. This LC is also a perfect for undeclared students interested in professions related to communication, such as event planning, social media, promotions, project management, recruiting, non-profits, brand management, fundraising, and health advocacy.
Fall semester: New Student Seminar (Intraunv 104), Introduction to Mass Communication (Comm 230), Intro to College Writing and Reading (English 101)
Spring semester: Intro to Public Speaking (Comm 110), Intro to College Writing, Reading, and Research (English 102)
Learning Community Coordinator
