STARS AND STRIPES
THIS LEARNING COMMUNITY IS DESIGNED FOR FIRST YEAR AND TRANSFER STUDENTS WHO HAVE SERVED OR ARE CURRENTLY SERVING IN THE MILITARY.
Active-duty veterans, members of the National Guard or Reserves, and ROTC cadets are invited to join this community that will foster engagement with the campus and assist participants in managing their dual roles as students and military/veterans. Guest speakers from campus offices, community organizations, and government agencies (VA, Vet Center, County Veterans Service Office) will be invited to interact with students in the learning community to help develop relationships and increase awareness of available resources both on and off campus. Faculty members involved in this learning community include a Vietnam Veteran, OIF Veteran, psychologist with experience in the VA, military historian, and an English instructor who has taught course sections tailored to the military student population. Courses were selected to fulfill general education requirements and all majors are welcome to participate.
