Move In Day
Move-In: Extended Drop Only
The official Move-In process for University Housing is known as "Extended Drop Only". This program was implemented in the Fall of 2020 with great success. There is no charge for participation in Extended Drop Only, as this is required of all students living in the Residence Halls.
All students living in the Residence Halls (including Cambridge Apartments) are required to register for an Extended Drop Only appointment time to move-in for the Fall semester. During the student’s appointment time, students will receive their Residence Hall room key, and have the opportunity to move all personal items into their Residence Hall room before returning home that evening.
Appointments are available August 20 th through 28 th . Appointments will be available August 20-23 rd and 26-28 th from 9-10:30am; 11-12:30pm; 1-2:30pm and 3-4:30pm. Appointments on August 23 rd-25 th are only offered from 9-10:30am and 11-12:30pm. This scheduling will allow for decreased traffic on campus, and increased efficiency for our families helping their Warhawk move to campus.
Sign-up for Extended Drop Only will begin at 9am on Wednesday, July 28 th and will remain open until Tuesday, August 17 th at 9am. To sign up, students need to log into the Student Portal on the University Housing website. A confirmation email will be sent to the student after their appointment time has been accepted.
After Making an Extended Drop Only Appointment:
Upon arrival to campus, students will report to Parking Lot #2 to receive their Residence Hall room key via our drive-thru process. Room keys will only be issued to the assigned student, and students must show a Photo-ID (HawkCard, Driver’s License, etc.) to receive their key.
After receiving the room key, students will proceed to their Residence Hall to move personal belongings into the room for the Fall Semester. Students will have until 6pm to remain in their Residence Hall room to organize their belongings. At 6pm everyone must depart the Residence Hall, unless they are an approved Early Arrival. First year students should return to campus on Sunday August 29 th to participate in Orientation activities on August 30 th-September 1 st. Returning students should return to campus on Monday, August 30 th through Wednesday, September 1st. All classes for the Fall semester will begin on Thursday, September 2 nd.
During Extended Drop Only, Consider the Following:
- Students are permitted to bring more than one vehicle to campus to move-in during Extended Drop Only, however only the student and two additional guests will be allowed in the Residence Halls at a time.
- University Housing will not be providing any assistance with moving belongings into the Residence Halls, which is significantly different than in previous years.
- Students can utilize Temporary Unloading Zones for 30 minutes at each Residence Hall. After 30 minutes, vehicles must be moved to a Residence Hall parking lot. During Extended Drop Only, parking permits will not be required for the Residence Hall parking lots.
- Carts will be available for students to use; however, students should bring their own disinfectant wipes.
- After finishing moving personal belongings into the residence hall room, students will need to lock their room before leaving the building. Students should keep their issued room key and bring it back with them when returning to campus.
- No students are permitted to stay overnight in the Residence Halls unless they have an approved Early Arrival.
There will be no alternative move-in processes for this year. All students must participate in Extended Drop Only to receive their room key for the Fall Semester.
