| General Description | ||
General access computing labs are for use by all UW-Whitewater students. The lab computers offer access to general-purpose and discipline-specific software running under Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Students can also use electronic mail and can access the Internet from any of the lab computers. UW-Whitewater students use the labs on a first-come, first-serve basis. Lab assistants are on duty at all times to assist in the use of the lab equipment and to answer general types of questions. Also, students can use the online help available with most software applications in order to learn about specific features of a program. All computers in the labs are connected to an ethernet network which provides access to software and laser printing. It is recommended that students have a Student Storage account or a USB pen drive on which to store personal documents. To request a student storage account please visit https://post.uww.edu. Lab computers print to our central print relase stations. Students are required to login with their NET-ID username and password to release their print jobs. The printout will print to the printer located in front of the release station. These labs are maintained by Instructional Technology Services (ITS) within Instructional, Communication and Information Technology (iCIT). ITS also provides basic infrastructure support in the setup of various college funded computer labs on campus.
