Acquiring Access to Computer Resources At UW-Whitewater

Access Forms, in conjunction with Compliance Forms, are needed to grant access for most computer accounts.  In the case of a new employee, access should be requested as soon as the hiring papers are complete so that access can be setup before the employee arrives.  Access forms are submitted by the supervisor to the Campus Computer Helpdesk (L2000) for processing.  The Access Form can be found at http://www.uww.edu/adminforms/hr/AccessForm.doc

Compliance Forms are filled out by the employee receiving access showing that they understand the responsibilities that are associated with the data that they have access to.  The Compliance Form is submitted to Human Resources to be filed in their personnel record.  The Compliance Form is needed for any access involving student or financial data (Payroll, PeopleSoft/WINS, Query Library, Raisers Edge, and WISDM).  The Compliance Form can be found at http://www.uww.edu/adminforms/hr/ComplianceForm.doc

Access Requests That Require An Access Form Are As Follows:

  • Payroll
  • PeopleSoft/WINS (including Admissions, Human Resources, Financial Aid, Student Financials, Student Payroll, and Student Records access)
  • Query Library
  • Raisers Edge
  • WISDM

Access Requests That May Be Requested By The Employee Directly Are As Follows:

Email/Novell Creation:  Email and Novell accounts are created automatically for faculty and staff one business day following their entry into the Human Resource personnel system.  Their username and password can be found by going to the email home page ( https://post.uww.edu) and clicking on “ HELP: What is my Net-ID and password?”

Special Requests:  Any special account request such as a departmental email account or T drive creation/deletion, or a need for special software or access to a service not listed above should contact the Helpdesk directly at 472-4357 for specific access information.

Training:  Employees may attend computer software training at no cost.  Information regarding training classes and registration can be found at http://www.uww.edu/icit/workshop.

Removal of Access:  Access is removed when Human Resources sends the departure notification.  It may also be removed in the case of job transfers, by request of the supervisor, or in the case of policy violation.
