Getting a Participant List with Clicker Device ID for my class
Knowing your RF receiver Device ID
- If you
are teaching a course using the Turning Technology Clickers, you will be issued
a Turning Technology RF Receiver from the LTC. Please take good care of
this 'flash drive' like device. Replacement cost will be $100 and your
department will be charged for damage or loss. The receiver needs to be
returned if you are no longer using the SRS system.
- This is a
USB device that resembles the look of a FLASH drive or a Pen drive. It has
a 6 digit device # at the back that you need to know. e.g. 010B8F
Extracting the participant list of my class
- You
should coordinate a target date with the students in your class. Give them
ample time to purchase a Clicker from University Bookstore and instruct
them to register their clickers on the web address : http://clickers.uww.edu
- You may
login to the same website - http://clickers.uww.edu
- Use your
NetID and password.
- Once
logged in, you will see the list of your classes that use clickers.
If your class is
missing, contact Brett Cook (cookb@uww.edu)
- Enter
your Receiver Device #
- Then
select the course to generate the participant list by clicking the 'Generate
Class List' button
Each course
section has a participant list. If you are conducting your Clicker class
with multiple course sections, please also contact Brett Cook for
assistance to properly merge the participant lists.
- A file
will be generated with the course ID and .TPP as extension.
This file contains
your receiver device ID, your students' name, student ID, and device ID
that allows responses to be captured and individual responses from each
student to be tracked during the TT presentation.
The file only
contains those students that have registered their device ID in the
system. If a student is missing from the list, that is most likely why.
During the
Add/Drop period, you may want to download the participant list multiple times
to make sure the list has updated student enrollment and clicker
registration. Students dropping the course may not be cleared from your
list. You can manually remove the student from the list (use the Edit
Participant list option) when you know for sure the student is no
longer attending class. Otherwise you will simply get no response from the
student.
- Save the
file on your hard drive, Network G: drive, or flash drive for use in your TT
presentation in the classroom.
Importing a class participation list into your TT presentation
- Set up
your receiver and test your connection first.
[Refer to the "Using Turning Technology in your class" document.]
- After you
open up your TT presentation, Click on the Participants Tool.
- Select Import a
Participant list, and select the file you extracted from the Clicker
Registration website.
- After importing the list, select the list from the Available Lists column on the right side of the screen. It will appear in the Current Participant List field.
- Select Response Devices from the drop-down menu to the left of the Participants Tool
- Your TT presentation
is now ready to receive responses from your class.
- You may
extract your participant list from the website multiple times, anytime. It
is best to do this after all your students have registered their Clickers.
- You may also
edit the participant list using the Edit Participant function. You
may add, change, or delete a student a Clicker device ID. It may be
cleaner to simply re-download a new participant list.
