Every time I try to log in to D2L it tells me that Explorer has caused an error and kicks me out.

This is usually caused by RealPlayer trying to play the pager sound from D2L. (The pager is a messaging system inside D2L that some people use to communicate.with other users. It is a blinking icon at the upper right of the D2L page.)

Since this problem is specific to the computer you are using, you should still be able to access D2L from a different computer, such as in one of the campus computer labs. The problem can usually be fixed by turning off Automatic Update in RealPlayer. Instructions for turning off Automatic Update can be found here. You will need Adobe Reader to view this file. Sometimes, this is not enough. If you continue to experience the problem, contact D2L Support at d2l-support@uww.edu and we can turn off the page sound for you. If you access D2L from a different computer, you can turn off the pager sound yourself by following these steps.

1. Log in to D2L. On your D2L home page, where you arrive after logging in, find My Settings on the far left of the screen. Click the My Preferences link.

View of the Welcome widget. My Prefrences is the first link in the widget.

2. On the next screen, click the Pager tab at the top of the page.

The Pager tab is the fifth tab along the top, in 'My Prefrences'.

3. To the right of Incoming page Sound, click the button next to “no noise.”

4. Finally, click Save at the bottom.
