When I log into D2L, I get an error message regarding RealPlayer. The message says: "Currently AutoUpdate has no plug-in available to play your selection" followed by a web address. If I click OK, about 50% of the time my system locks up and about 50% of the time I get logged into my homepage. Sometimes this error message comes up when I am working on one of my course pages. When this happens, it almost always locks up the system and I have to use task manager to close the unresponsive program.

This browser crash can be attributed to RealOne player being set to play pager sounds in D2L when it is unable to do so. To repair the problem, deactivate Automatic Update by using the instructions here. Note that you will need Adobe Reader to view this file. (All computers configured by the university should have this program). Using another computer, you can also turn off the pager sound by clicking "My Preferences" on the D2L homepage, then clicking on the "Pager" tab.
