I'm being asked for a Username and Password when I try to look at Word documents

Problem: When you try to look at Word documents from a D2L course, you are asked for a Username and Password. Entering your UWW Net-ID and password makes no difference

Solution: Try the following.

For older computers, make sure you have Microsoft Word, or a program capable of opening Word Documents installed. Contact the UWW Computing Helpdesk for information on purchasing Microsoft Office for students. (262-472-HELP [4357], helpdesk@uww.edu).

Make sure your computer is up-to-date with all of the latest available patches. Go to Microsoft Update (http://update.microsoft.com) and follow the site's instructions. Then apply all critical updates.

Click 'Cancel'. You might need to do this several times, but once the login box goes away, you will not see it again.

As a last resort, you may need to install Netscape 7.2 or Firefox 1.5. Neither of these browsers are subject to this login box.
