Campus Wireless Access
Project Overview
UWW students, staff, and faculty have widely available free wireless access allowing Internet connection from convenient locations around the campus. Personal and university laptops and other devices will be able to be used in most locations for the users’ convenience. Wireless access is available in all residence halls, except Wells.

- Easier collaboration and integration of technology into instructional and campus activities
Timeline
2005 – June 2007
- Install additional access points in instructional and outdoor spaces
- Tune performance and accessibility of the wireless network
- Begin the deployment of up to 70 access points in the Residence Halls
- Support for PDA’s on wireless network
- Offer wireless access to campus visitors
- Continue deployment in Residence Halls
- Plan deployment of wireless in other areas of the campus
- Consider wireless for voice, video, and data gathering applications
Summer 2008
- Expand outdoor access to wireless services
- Allow for wireless access for large outdoor events to facilitate ease of sales for food during special events
- Continual evaluation of coverage and locating addition access point location need
- Wireless access is being added to all residence halls (except Wells) with a target completion date of Fall 2008.
Summer-Fall 2009
- Upgrading and expanding wireless coverage to include 802.11n standard
