Data Center Renovation
Summary
The campus data center, located in McGraw Hall, is being renovated to make it more suitable for both hardware and personnel while making it compatible with expected long-term growth. It will bring the data center in line with the Telecommunications Industry Association standard TIA-942 and other applicable standards related to layout, distribution, environment, etc.
Phase 1
Specific Improvements planned for 2006 include:
- Replacing electrical supply and distribution equipment (UPS & PDU),
- The establishment of an overhead cable distribution system,
- Replacement of machine room flooring with high-pressure laminate,
- Reorganization of racks / cabinets into hot aisle / cold aisle configuration,
- Reworking area security (cameras, doors, etc.), and
- Cosmetic work as budget allows (furniture, carpet, paint, etc.)
Phase 2
Specific Improvements planned for 2007 include:
- Machineroom updates
- HVAC Replacement
- Fire Suppression System Replacement
