Digital Signage

What is Digital Signage?

Digital Signage is a dynamic method of communicating with the campus community via plasma screen/LCD displays. Various inputs can be used such as Cable TV, live streams, PowerPoint slides, or live websites. The screen can display multiple messages or be dedicated to one video source.

Why do I want to use Digital Signage?

Digital Signage will allow your division/department to display multiple messages at set intervals to communicate with students, staff, faculty, or guests. Once the digital signage is installed, information is able to be updated quickly. You can develop your own content or work with iCIT to effectively communicate your message.

How do I get started?

  • Acquisition: Initial requests for digital signage shall be made to Nick Ciesinski, ciesinsn@uww.edu. Requests must come from a department/division manager with authority to purchase equipment. Purchases must be made from a list of supported displays in order to integrate the new digital signage into the campus system. Requests shall include three bullet points explaining the need for digital signage to support a department/division's instructional or service mission. The use of the signage in terms of what media it will display (cable TV, internet streams, DVDs, informational slides, etc.) must be included.

  • Installation: Installation of the digital signage will require the purchase of a Digital Media Player selected by iCIT which will meet the needs of the requested usage and compatibility requirements for the campus's infrastructure. The department/division will pay the costs of installation.

ICIT manages the infrastructure that supports digital signage on campus. Each department manages the content of their signage. For questions regarding content or to make a content request, please see the content owners below:
