Listserv Request Form

UW-Whitewater listservs are available for instructional, academic, and other university-related activities. Only UW-Whitewater faculty and staff may request a new listserv. Student organizations must have their advisor request a listserv for the organization and the advisor must be the list-owner.

What do you want the list name to be? The list name will be the email address of the list. For example, if you enter "mylist", your list's posting-address will be
mylist-l@listserv.uww.edu.

Enter a short description for you list (less than 6 words).

What is your email address? You will be the list-owner. Messages destined for list-owner such as bounces, approvals, and other notifications will be sent to this address.

Will the list be Unmoderated or Moderated? Most lists are Unmoderated. Moderated lists require you, the list owner, to approve every message before it goes to the list. This can be a lot of work and requires your daily attention.

Do you want the Subscribe policy to be Open or Closed? Most lists have an Open policy. A Closed Subscribe policy requires you, the list owner, to approve every Subscribe request. This can be a lot of work and requires your daily attention.

Do you wantthe Unsubscribe policy to be Open or Closed? Most lists have an Open policy. A Closed Unsubscribe policy requires you, the list owner, to approve every Unsubscribe request. This can be a lot of work and requires your daily attention.

Do you want for the list to be archived? Most lists are not archived. A list that is archived will have all messages sent to the list saved for 6 months so that they can viewed using a web browser. If you choose to have your list archived, you will need to provide your subscribers with a URL to your list archive.
