Accessing Options
You can access and change options by clicking on the "Options" button in the lower left corner of the screen.
Once you have made changes to one of the options, you must be sure to click the "Save and Close" button at the top of the screen for the changes to be saved.
Out of Office Assistant
The Out of Office Assistant notifies users who send you messages that you are away from the office and cannot reply immediately. The Out of Office Assistant will only send this message to UW-W email accounts. It will not reply to messages from off-campus. Your reply is sent only once to any one sender, even if you receive multiple messages from that person. Your Inbox continues to collect messages when you set the Out of the Office option. To setup the Out of Office Assistant, click Options on the Shortcuts bar. Then select "I'm currently out of the office". Compose a message in the Auto Reply box to be automatically returned to anyone who sends you a message when you are out of the office. To accept the settings, click Save and Close at the top of the screen. Remember to select "I'm currently in the office" when you return.
Items to display per page
If you have only a few messages, OWA can show you the entire inbox. If there are more messages than there are lines available than the "Items to display per page" setting, your messages will be displayed on multiple pages. As shown below, you can change the "Items to display per page" setting from the default value of 25. The number of items can be set as low as 5 and as high as 100 items. The higher this number, the longer it will take for OWA to load. Try setting this number lower if you have a slow internet connection. Use the arrows or type in an item number to locate the message you want to view. Note that you may still need to use the scroll bar to view all the messages within the page.
Signature
You can create an email signature to use in OWA by clicking the "Edit Signature" button. You can also check the "Automatically include my signature on outgoing messages" if you wish to use this signature for every message you send. If you prefer to decide whether or not to use the signature on each message, leave this box unchecked and use the signature button found at the top of the new message window.
Spelling Check
You can check your spelling in OWA if you are using Internet Explorer 5.x or later. The first time you check your spelling in a message, you may be asked to select the spelling language to use. As shown below, you can choose to "Always check spelling before sending".
Privacy
You can choose to "Block external content in HTML e-mail messages." as shown below. This option is shown below. Many spam email messages include images and other content that is actually stored on a web server owned by the spammer. When you open or preview this type of message, you communicate with the spammer's web server letting them know that you have viewed the message and that your email account is active. You have the option to view the external content for an individual message even if the blocking is enabled.
Appearance
You change the color scheme used in OWA. The default color scheme is blue.
Recover deleted emails using OWA
You are able to recover your deleted items up to seven days after you have emptied your Deleted Items folder in OWA. Click the "View Items" button to view the messages that are able to be recovered.
