UW-Whitewater is proud to offer free access to its extensive wireless network to all students, faculty and staff with a valid Net-ID. Wireless network access is available in all of the major academic and administrative buildings, as well as outdoor areas on campus. You can also connect to wireless in the residence hall rooms and common areas. This wireless connectivity enables flexibility for accessing the Internet and other online applications.
Wireless Network Access Locations
Wireless access is available throughout campus.
Accessing the UW-Whitewater wi-fi network can be a simple process. To access the wireless network, a computer needs to be equipped with a wireless network card. Most newer laptops will come with a built-in wireless card. If yours does not have a built-in card, an external wireless card will be needed. An external card can purchased from most electronic/computer stores. The important thing is to make sure that the card is 802.11a/g/n or 802.11g/n compatible.
Some newer operating systems will auto-detect the wi-fi network and require no set up on your part. These will only require the input of your Net-ID and password for authentication as an authorized user of the network.
See How to Connect for detailed instructions to connect to the UW-Whitewater wireless network.
