Anjie Kokan

HOMETOWN:  Allegan, Michigan

EDUCATION:

  • Ms. Ed., TESOL - Shenandoah University
  • BA Spanish - University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

INTRNATIONAL EXPERIENCE:  South Korea, India, Mexico

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:   My journey in TESOL began in Seoul, Korea where I taught students of all ages. My experience in Korea was so fulfilling that I studied the field even more when I returned to the states. I have taught English to adults for over twenty years through community programs, technical colleges, and universities. My teaching style involves interactive activities to prepare students for the American university classroom and to help them gain the real life skills they need for success.

WHY DO YOU ENJOY WORKING WITH INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS?    I love working with international students because it is inspiring to see people from different cultures working together and helping each other succeed. It is extremely rewarding to see students become more independent with their English and reach their goals. Sharing my passion for the beautiful Midwest and helping students settle into the Whitewater area is a joy. The students are an asset to the community, and we can all learn from one another.

INTERESTS: poetry, hiking, gardening, art, theater
