The Intensive English Language Camp allows high school students to improve their English while learning about American culture on a safe, beautiful U.S. university campus. Campers enroll in 22 hours of English and culture classes per week taught by certified English language instructors. Whitewater university students assist in the classroom and offer supplemental instruction for an additional 3-5 hours a week. The E-Camp curriculum addresses the complete range of language skills including reading, writing, grammar and speaking skills. All E-Campers must have taken at least one year of English language classes. E-Camp is appropriate for campers with low to intermediate English skills.

University Preparation Summer Camp (U-Camp)

The University Preparation Summer Camp allows high school students to develop the skills necessary to succeed as a university student in the U.S. The U-Camp curriculum focuses on academic reading and writing, vocabulary, listening and note-taking skills. U-Campers participate in a University Preparation Course covering classroom etiquette, student-centered teaching methods, individual learning styles, faculty expectations, advising methods, and classroom participation and observe a university course(s) of interest to them. All U-Campers should have taken at least three years of English language classes.  U-Camp is appropriate for campers with high intermediate or advanced English skills.

Why attend camp at UW-Whitewater?

Campers interact with American students both in and out of the classroom making learning fun for all campers. U and E-Campers participate in all excursions together, live in campus housing together, and follow the same daily schedule (but different classes). Physical Education (P.E.) classes introduce U.S. sports and ensure students have time to enjoy the summer weather and get exercise. All campers create a video showcasing one aspect of their camp adventure and receive a Certificate of Completion. Additional awards are given for exceptional commitment to cultural and global learning and cooperation.
